Again, Buhari hands Keyamo appointment, writes Senate for clearance

Less than one month after appointing him Director of Communications, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday listed Festus Keyamo, a lawyer, as member of the board of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation(NDIC).

Keyamo is one of seven individuals appointed to the board, which has Alhaji Olabode Mustapha as chairman.

The President has apprised the Senate of the appointment via a letter transmitted to the Upper Legislative house.

The letter from the President, which was read on the floor of the Senate by Senator Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate, read inter alia:

“In compliance with section 5 (4) of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Act 2006, it is my pleasure to forward to distinguished senate the under listed nominees for confirmation as chairman and members of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation. Their CVs are attached.”

“It is my hope distinguished senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner.

“Please accept Mr Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration”.

Full membership of the board included as:

Olabode Mustapha (Chairman, Ogun State)

Garba Buba (Member, Bauchi State)

Bello Garba (Member, Sokoto State)

Joseph Okalogu (Member, Enugu State)

Mustapha Mudashiru (Member, Kwara State)

Festus Keyamo (Member, Delta)

Adewale Adeleke (Member, Ondo State)

In another letter to the Senate, President Buhari asked for the confirmation of Ateru Garba Madami as Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Niger State at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Madami was chosen as replacement for a nominee reviously rejected by the Senate.
