Edo 2024: Dudu-Orumen leads Owan West Youths in March in support of Asue Ighodalo
Mr. Godwin Dudu-Orumen, one of Nigeria’s leading sports administrators and pioneer Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission((ESSC),is scaling up support for Mr. Asuen Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) candidate for the September 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
As part of his commitment to seeing Mr. Ighodalo take over from Mr. Godwin Obaseki as Governor of Edo State, Dudu-Orumen on Friday, May 3, 2024, led over 2000 youths of Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State in a five-kilometre walk in support of the PDP governorship aspirant.
Early Friday morning, excited youths started milling at Holy Trinity Grammar School, Sabongida Ora. The youths who thronged the venue from all the towns and villages in Owan West including Uhonmora, Oke Old, Eme Ora, Oke New Site, Sobe and adjoining communities, moved from street to street , promoting Mr. Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, a former Secretary to the Government of Edo State, and handling out branded T-shirts , face-caps and leaflets, and pledged to campaign and vote for the two PDP candidates.
The procession terminated at late Benson Alegbe’s house.
Addressing the teeming crowd of youths, the Convener of the event , Dudu-Orumen, a citizen of the local government area said
that Mr Ighodalo is a man of his words and will ensure that development gets to the local government and the entire State.
He averred that having known Mr. Ighodalo for over four decades as an accomplished businessman, he was confident that he will bring his visionary boardroom experience into governance of Edo State.
The youths for their part, agreed to mobilize into campaign groups to reach out to various interest groups in Owan West such as the elderly, small business owners, drivers and transport unions, students, and farmers to vote for Mr Ighodalo and the PDP.
