Teenager, three friends lure girlfriend to building, decapitate her for ritual

Four youths aged between 17and 20 years were arrested early in the morning of Saturday January 29 operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for the murder of an 18 years woman for ritual purposes.

The suspects, Wariz Oladehinde, 17 years, Abdul Gafar Lukman, 19 years and Mustakeem Balogun, 20 years were arrested following a tip off of policemen at the Adatan divisional headquarters from the head of the community security guards. According to the guards, the suspects were seen burning something resembling a human head in a local pot.

Upon receipt of the information, the DPO of the Adatan division, Superintendent of Police, Abiodun Salau, quickly led detectives to the scene, where the three suspects were arrested. The boyfriend of the murdered girl, Saliu Majekodumi, 18, who escaped was later apprehended.

On interrogation, the suspects confessed that what they were burning in the pot was the head of Majekodunmi’s girlfriend. They confessed further that the lady. who simply identified as Rofiat, was lured by her Saliu to where she was murdered after which they cut off her head and packed remains in a sack and dumped it in an old building.

They later led policemen to the building where the dismembered body was recovered and deposited at a hospital mortuary for autopsy. The machete and a knife used in cutting off the deceased’s head were also recovered.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the police in the state, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, described the action of the suspects as the height of callousness.

The CP also ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation with the view to arraigning them in court as soon as possible.
