‘They can’t speak against police brutality but go extra mile for BBNaija’ — Ruggedman tackles youth

Michael Stephens, the veteran rapper better known as Ruggedman, has tackled Nigerian youth for channeling so much energy into the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality show.

The award-winning rapper, known to be very active in the #EndSARS campaign, took to his Instagram page on Sunday to speak on how some youth go extra mile for irrelevant matters while they remain “weak when it comes to issues with respect to politics and police brutality”.

He also wondered why youth don’t call out celebrities for not supporting housemates of the reality TV show but would bash the same celebrities when they don’t speak up against issues pertaining to the country.

“Have you seen any youth calling out celebrities for not supporting BBN housemates? No. They gathered themselves and are doing a great job on their own,” he wrote.

“They raised money amongst themselves to print T-shirts, even going as far as holding campaign rallies and parties. But when it comes to a political or police brutality issue that affects their lives personally, they will act weak and instead spend this same energy bashing celebrities for not speaking up. These are the same people who do not need any assistance to support BBN housemates with everything they have got.

“So who is fooling who?

“Nigerians are Nigeria’s problem & until you stand up for what’s right, nothing will change for the better

“I have nothing against the choices you make. You can choose to celebrate negativity or positivity. But just know that you can do these same things to help the lives of all Nigerians and not just BBN housemates. BBN is a private business that’s enriching some people.

“Nigeria is our country that can enrich or at least make life good for us all. Choose your fight wisely.”

Tacha was recently disqualified from the reality TV show due to her confrontation with Mercy, fellow housemate.

There, however, have been moves to support her with Jaruma, sex therapist and businesswoman, offering Tacha the sum of N50 million.

Some of her fans also launched a Gofundme account to make contributions for her.
