OBASEKI RECEIVES SPORTS FESTIVAL TORCH; ASSURES ON QUALITY OUTING BY EDO ATHLETES

Edo State will go full throttle at this year’s National Sports Festival, Governor Godwin Obaseki has assured.

The Governor made the promise on Monday afternoon while receiving the Festival Torch at the Government House Benin-City.

Speaking through Barrister Godwin Dudu-Orumen, the chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, the sports-loving Governor expressed delight at welcoming the Torch of Unity into Edo State and re-affirmed that the state’s athletes would be competing for laurels at the 19th National Sports Festival tagged Abuja 2018.

“Receiving the Torch of Unity gingers the spirit of sportsmanship in us; appeals to our sense of unity and also sets the string of love running through our land. I am highly optimistic that our contingent will put up superlative performances in line with our remarkable sporting tradition”, Governor Obaseki said

The Sports Festival torch of Unity which arrived from Delta State will move on to Ondo State from Edo State.

The National Sports Festival takes place between December 6 – 16, 2018 in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory(FCT).
