FRSC Corps Marshal directs consitution of mobile traffic courts nationwide

As part of strategies to maintain sanity and reduce
incidents of road traffic crashes on the highways, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Shehu Mohammed, has directed Commanding Officers to make mobile court operations a critical part of the end-of-year enforcement.
Olusegun Ogungbemide, Corps Public Education Officer, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the move is aimed at ensuring road safety and reducing crashes during this festive season and beyond. Ogungbemide said the directive became necessary because mobile court operations help to promptly prosecute traffic offenders, serving as a deterrent to potential violators.
To achieve maximum impact, commanding officers are expected to take responsibility for implementing operations of the courts mobile court by working closely with relevant stakeholders, especially the judiciary, to ensure seamless prosecution of traffic rules violators.
As a prelude to the operations, the Corps Marshal also ordered them to ensure robust engagement and public enlightenment campaigns to educate road users about the importance of adhering to traffic laws.
He called on drivers and vehicle owners to put their vehicles in good shape, ensure that their vehicle and drivers licenses are up to date. He also emphasised on the imperatives of observing established traffic rules and regulations on all roads to avoid prosecution as no driver will be spared if arrested going against the law.
