Dickson urged to emulate Anambra, others, Edo on Open Government Partnership

The Executive Director of Family Welfare Foundation(FAWEF), Mr. Torki Dauseye has urged Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson to emulate states like Edo, Anambra, and Kaduna that have signed on to the Open Government Partnership.

This call came following the policy dialogue on the OGP organized by the Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ.

“Having participated in the policy dialogue, I believe that signing on to the OGPs is an indication that a government is willing to adopt the international best practice in terms of transparency, accountability and prudent management of scarce resources. It further demonstrates that such a government is interested in the wellbeing of the citizens, Mr. Dauseye said.

Sinivie Ototo, Secretary, Board of Trustees of FAWEF noted that any government that is truly interested in the wellbeing of its citizenry will not delay in signing on to the OGP.

“Signing on to the OGPs will further position the government among the international community as a transparent, accountable and inclusive government, which automatically attract international development support and investment,” Ototo said.

FAWEF is community-based Non-Governmental Organization with headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state. It promotes sustainable development through advocacy for good governance and improving income generation capabilities of vulnerable households.
